Join Clyde Porpoise aboard their yacht ‘Saorsa’ for an unforgettable experience assisting with the Clyde Marine Mammal Project. As you explore the extraordinary landscape of the Clyde, North channel and Irish Sea you will encounter the best of Scottish wildlife.
You will learn fundamental survey techniques, while contributing to a valuable and newly-established monitoring programme. We undertake a variety of expeditions – lasting between 3-5 days. Participants will become our marine mammal scientists during the expedition, being trained in species identification (both marine mammal & sea bird) and survey techniques (both visual & acoustic).
No experience is required as full training will be provided by experienced skipper and crew. All aboard are expected to participate in every aspect of the expedition, including domestic duties and helping to sail the yacht. Without the contribution of volunteers, we would not be able to deliver research activities; uncovering information about our local marine mammal populations and contributing to more efficient marine management strategies.
